Why it matters
- Caffeine is a stimulant that pets process much more slowly than people do.
- Used coffee grounds are actually more concentrated in caffeine than a brewed cup, and pets sometimes get into the trash.
- Energy drinks and some sodas add sugar and other stimulants on top of caffeine.
Serving tips
- Keep coffee, tea, and energy drinks (and their grounds/bags) out of reach, including in the trash.
- Offer plain water as the go-to drink for pets β nothing else is really necessary.
Symptoms to watch for
- Restlessness or hyperactivity
- Rapid breathing or racing heart
- Tremors in more serious cases

- Try to note how much they ate and when, and keep any packaging β it helps whoever you call give faster advice.
