Why it matters

Apple seeds contain a small amount of the same type of cyanogenic compound found in cherry pits, though in much lower concentration.
A pet would need to chew and swallow a large number of seeds for this to be a real concern — occasional accidental seeds aren’t an emergency.
The tough core is more of a choking/blockage hazard than a toxicity one, especially for smaller dogs.

Serving tips

Slice apples and remove the core and seeds before sharing.
Plain apple slices are a genuinely good low-calorie treat once seeds are out of the picture.
