Why it matters
- In small amounts (like a dusting on a treat), cinnamon is unlikely to cause more than mild mouth or stomach irritation.
- Larger amounts, or cinnamon essential oil specifically, can cause more significant irritation and are worth actively avoiding.
- It’s more of a “don’t make a habit of it” ingredient than an emergency-level toxin.
Serving tips
- Skip cinnamon-heavy treats and definitely keep cinnamon essential oil away from pets.
